"I love how people become cooperative when you threaten them with something deadly. Life just becomes so much easier for the person holding the weapon."
If you didn't find that amusing, you probably found it sounded messed up. Oh well, my head is a bit messy. Don't clean it out as regularly as my virtual trash bin, but still more regularly than my real one. Hmmm... Perhaps I'm online too much.
Anyhow, glad I posted! I'm going to Armageddon Expo tomorrow after church. Good luck to anyone doing NaNoWriMo (or equivalents) in November, just thought I'd say that.

21st of October, 2011 - Goings on
Admittedly I've also been mucking around some, playing Portal 1, Portal 2, and Minecraft. Having a little break is good. But don't worry, I'm still working on Bowstring. I don't know if I mentioned it on the blog earlier, but originally The Archer's Fable was meant to be a short that went before Veil of Trees, something my friends and I could do before working on the main film. It's an epic failure when a planned 20-30 page script turns out over 120 pages. I guess that's a good thing though... somewhat. So I've also started writing ANOTHER film short, this one slightlyyyyy before The Archer's Fable. It's basically a mission for John, and introducing a character that I hope to bring back later, and another character that makes a brief appearance in the first teaser for The Archer's Fable.
Basically what I want to do with these shorts, teasers and then the movies is develop a continual storyline. I like teasers/trailers that add to the story, somewhat like in Doctor Who series six, how some of the episodes had mini 'prequels'. That's part of what's been going through my head. It's also a nice way to fill in some gaps. So hopefully this short will turn out closer to the page goal.
Still no, heh, progress on my costume. When I have everything I need, things get done fast, but when I don't, I have a hard time not-slacking. Still thinking some on what the final design should be. I've got quite a few things to make regardless, so hopefully I'll figure that out soon. I also apologize for the lack of updates recently. I've been meaning to write posts, but it's just slipped my mind. I tend to loth writing short blog posts... Makes me feel like Iv'e got nothing to say. But then again, so do no-posts. I should just try post anyway even if there's not much to report on. And it should make me try do more on the project faster.

1st of September, 2011 - I'm back!
So in the meantime, I'm using my time in other areas of working on the movie. My plans for September include working on some costume stuff. Getting experience in filming and editing. (I've got a few mini film projects to get myself some experience before shooting the movie itself.) Casting. Writing the plan for the teaser trailer. Location scouting, and hopefully even storyboarding. Also want to make the MOP logo animation thing. Lots to do! Quite excited.

5th of August, 2011 - BOOYEAH!
Oh, another mini-note on the story writing front of Bowstring... One of the characters has started writing a Journal. Heh-heh, yep. A few days back they told me they wanted to keep a journal, and I sitting, thinking to myself. "But I'm meant to be editing write now, not jotting down fictional years of a character's life from several years ago! Why is that relevant?" Turn's out it's not relevant for NOW in the script, as in TAF... But it'll be relevant later. And I can't say WHO'S journal is is, or any more than what I have already without spoiling it. But yeah, funny little thing that came up.
Readers (My Mum, Dannflow, FM, FM's younger brother, Tippie, Kitty and now, Gala. Welcome aboard.), check your inbox please. You should have a shiny email with a script attached to it. How exciting! I'm off to bed before hoping on the plane. (6th-17th, and the 24th-28th, I'll be away. Just a reminder.)

19th of July, 2011 - More editing...
So I've got three locations sorta vaguely picked, and ideas for a few others, so it's a start. :) Maybe I'll post pictures sometime when I've got more location scouting done. That'd be a neat thing to do... Oh! So also, I've made a list for casting to keep track of who's acting who. Anddddd I've started a list of ideas for promotional stuff todo with teh movie for when it nears release. You can never have to many promotional ideas. They include things like Cosplay (Costume Play) stunts, vlogging things and some random funny misc-video stuff related to Bowstring. They make me grin just thinking of them, so hopefully they'll work well. But that's it for this update!

16th of July, 2011 - Editing is my weak point
So, what I didn't mention in my last blogpost is another thing I was working on in regards to Bowstring, is working on a character design. I'm aware we have, like- no budget, so the film will be made on whatever people are willing to contribute, but I wanted to go ahead design this... I was working on Shadowleaf, and I decided to call my little session: "Planning Awesomeness". Pretty epic title for a planning session by yourself, eh? So I worked on things from colors and outfits, to weapons and practicality.
Generally different types of characters achieve "awesome" in different ways. The Sheriff of Nottingham (BBC's Robin Hood) was awesome because as a baddie. He really didn't have any issues with dispatching of random civilians, or hanging people/cutting out tongues; it was all fitting to his character. In fact, in his extremity and how he was portrayed as such so perfectly, added to his awesome factor. Don't get me wrong, hanging people and cutting out tongues is bad; don't do that, okay? But that's who the Sheriff is. He'd give the orders as this epic boss dude, and watch his guards do the dirty work- though occasionally doing some of said work himself -while he enjoyed his 'poetry of pain', ... I'm getting to into this, aren't I?
Moving on... Let's pick a good character for comparison this time, eh? Lemme think about that for a moment... Thinking... Thinking... Thinking... Let's stick with BBC Robin Hood, since that show is awesome. Marian. Hopefully without spoilers, she's awesome for her correctness. She's not a dumb damsel in distress, but she doesn't try too hard to be tough either. For a longggggggg time, she had the Sheriff and Guy fooled with her brilliantly tactical words, finding every loophole in a seemingly incriminating conversation. She'd leave just enough bait for Guy and the Sheriff to fall for some of hers ploys without landing in hot water. Now, sometimes her cleverness can be annoying too, but there's mostly a lot of win and genius with Marian. She is awesome; Robin's lucky to have a spy like her on his side. But enough Robin Hood now, even though it's awesome in general.
WARNING: Too much awesome can be lethal. If you are awesome, make sure you can control your awesomeness so you don't accidentally kill people with it. And don't nod at birds either, that's dangerous too. Back to Bowstring. Hopefully we'll have some "awesome" characters.
Updated the progress thingy. Up to 32 Pages! Hooray! I should really work on editing more... It's just getting into it that I have a hard time with. Once I do actually get going, I make a fair amount of progress. I got 11 pages done tonight... More than most other times. But I should call it a night. Hopefully get some more done tomorrow... Without procrastination. (No offense Pony-la, I do quite enjoy perusing ProcrastiNation, but it's very distracting when you're writing to work on a project.) Heehee.

23rd of June, 2011 - The End
Thinking yesterday on something important- casting. in The Archer's Fable, there are just shy of 30 characters with dialog. Now although nor all of these are main characters (I'd be concerned if I had 30 main characters) and some can be acted by the same actor, there's still going to be a lot of people I need to get come filming. Here's a little list of characters that talk...
John, Mendel, Iven, Galen, Shadowleaf, Edan, Reginald, Lilian, Aronele, Matthew, Edwin, Warrick, Andrew, Jeremy, Apprentice, Villager, Messenger, Woman, Guard1, Guard2, Guard3, Patron1, Patron2, Patron3, Random Noble, Random Patron, Court Member1, Court Member2, Court Member3...
And then I haven't listed groups of people. Those can be made up by some of the above anyway. But yeah, it'll be an interesting process. The only roles that we know for sure who's doing what are: John, Aronele, Shadowleaf and Lilian. Won't this be interesting? Haha.

I'm TRYING to talk to Dannflow about what to do, but he keeps talking about clothes the 10th Doctor wore... so that's not really helpful. "Yum" was equally as helpful a while back. Oh well, it must be my lot in life to try and figure these things out on my own. Heh. I did remember another important thing that needs to happen before the second movie. Wow, I can't believe I'd forgot that for so long... I'd better add it to my notes so I don't forget.

17th of June, 2011 - I'm going to be nice!
But here's another little treat... How about a music track?
This track is called "Galen", it's his theme and is used in multiple variations as the situation demands within the story; my general baddie theme. Shadowleaf's theme has some of Galen's theme in it. A good example of reoccurring themes, in my opinion, would be Star Wars.

Lots of people ask, WHY THE LEFT ARM? Well logically, the heart, obviously. However whenever I would mention Galen killing someone that way to my friends, they've heard it so much now, they say left armpit... "Oh, Icey's killing people by stabbing them under the left armpit again." Haahaa. YOu'd be amazed how much this joke actually comes up. It's scary. Heh-heh. But yep, I'm still here, still writing. I also came up with a few interesting ideas this evening, which will be pretty cool to tie-in to the script. It involves knights and false accusations and making people not like Rangers more. 3rd of June, 2011 - Funny realization
Oh, and THANK YOU KITTY! Told you, I'd mention you. I must've been incredibly thick, because I kept on going to the template designer to try and change it, rather than just the design panel where you can change the header to a graphic. So thank you for pointing this out to me. Now you can look at the shiny title graphic up there and thank Kitty for telling me how to put that up. And telling me that the first version I put up there was too big. Though I knew before she said it, and changed it. But we both agreed is the main thing!
Started off today by copying the script for Veil of Trees into Celtex today. When you don't know what to write, reformat! Hooray! Also watched Doctor Who while doing this, so yeah. Series 3. I watch in a weird order. Series 5, Series 1, Series 2, Series 3 & 6 at the same time... A bit like my script writing order, eh?
And I can almost change this post to saying 4th of June. It's 11:55 PM. Good night. One last thing though; did you know the celtic name "Edan", means "Little Fire"? Heh-heh, fitting.

29th of May, 2011 - Eh...
Look! I returned for another paragraph! Just wrote another scene. I need tissues. Toilet paper is hard. It's a sad scene, evidently. And the next one is sad, too... And the ones after that, actually. Wow, isn't that sad of me? So much sadness. so very very sad. No, I'm not writing a Doctor Who episode for the Greek tragedy that is the tenth doctor. And no commenting with spoilers of Series 6 Doctor Who, or else Shadowleaf will hunt you down. I’m hoping to write at least one more scene. Actually, it's a scene I've written before, as it appears in Veil of Trees, but in a slightly different form. It's the end of an era in the world of Bowstring, story wise. You'll know why soon enough. This particular assassination is very key. Shall I explain? Alright.
Spoilers.
Anddddddddddddddd adding another paragraph even later. I've written some more scenes and have reaches Act 2B. Just thought I'd note that here. 43 pages now. 8 pages in one day, I'm pretty pleased with myself!

26th of May, 2011 - Why am I up at this hour?
So it's 11:29 PM... Thursday evening- though I should say night. I just finished up a couple more scenes. And I gotta say, they were awesome (In my humble opinion... which probably didn't sound so humble.) And they were actually quite important scenes. Exciting stuff. Poor Iven probably felt like a bit of the third wheel though. Oh well, he's meant to then. But yes, not only were these scenes important and exciting, they were sad too. I was kinda... crying... I admit. I think I need to add a bit more in before them though, because having a big thing like that I just felt was a bit soon. Although it's about 25% in, we'll see...
I'll probably do a full script read through tomorrow. It's always a good thing to go through and read what you've written. I usually record it when I do this too. It helps gage time, speed and feel. If someone's gonna watch a movie, they're not going to pause every second scene, come back the next day, watch another couple scenes and so on. So yeah, checking the script constantly that way helps a ton for clarity and continuity. It'll let me know if I need to add a bit more in before, if I'm on target, or actually running a bit slow. Dannflow accuses me of being slow most of the time. Oh well. Good night.

25h of May, 2011 - Finding the plot
I thought I should mention that I write by the seat of the pants (or skirt, depending what I'm wearing.) style... Mostly. I do have a vague sort of idea where I'm going, but not really. Most things I write are thought up on the spot, and edited later. So I'm about 18 pages into the script, and soon coming up on the time for a good plot-twist. But what's gonna happen? What should I do next? A blank page can beckon creativity, or a mocking rebellion of nothingness... Can nothingness even rebel? Oh well, I guess it can, because at the moment it is. I know Mendel and John are heading south east at the moment, and so is Iven. (Iven's another Ranger.) And Iven's gonna catch up with them probably in Taesh. Then I've got to employ my twist, but I need a reason. And it should have something to do with Edan, I suspect. It's most viable... but we'll see. Spoilers. Oh, I should also mention that since yesterday, I've written two more scenes. And I've re-drawn the map, this time in color. Map-drawing helps me think for some reason... I guess I like some form of direction.

24th of May, 2011 - Where'd I go?
So I've written a bit more on the script, only a couple scenes, but at least that's something. I particularly like the recent developments in the latest part; it's quite interesting for John's character development. So that's pretty good. The reason there's so much time between this post and my last is because I had my birthday party in that time. (Doctor Who party on the 21st of May, perfect timing. My actual birthday was the 12th.) So other news since then; talking to Dannflow a few days ago, he hopes we can be filming in the summer holidays later this year. It's almost winter at the moment.
And just thinking at the moment... An interesting conflict in The Archer's Fable; I want to have John learn a particular lesson (he's a bit... how shall I say it? Vengeful, at the start. Not hard-core though, thankfully.) And he's so going to learn by the end, but I expect the movie to have a somewhat tragic ending. Never did I think I would see the day that I wrote a story where the bad guys won. Now although it's only the beginning of the saga, and there's a second movie planned to improve the situation, those that only see the first movie I'm worried will get the impression that being bad will get your way, and being good will hurt you in the end. This is not true in the long run, but I'm concerned it will come across that way... An predicament for me then, who's going to have a character learn a lesson, only then to feel great loss. Though it's true that in doing the right thing, things aren't always easy, I need a way to offset the balance, or else it'll be really dark.

17th of May 2011 - Writing!
Look, a different greeting! Amazing, isn't it? Meh. So, since we're closest to working on filming "The Archer's Fable", figured it'd be logical to change my writing focus to that at the moment. I've got about 7 and a half pages done, so that's about seven minutes of screen time. the intro works quite well I think for introducing John and Mendel's characters. I'll try not to give much away, since I still want you to watch the movie. At the moment, John and Mendel are having a rest altering being chased out of Guanda by a group of angry villagers, who misunderstood something. Typical masses of people. Individually, you often think that it's dumb, but if you're in a group, people don't tend to think so much for themselves. Just a general observation. Kinda like peer pressure; people can do some pretty crazy and stupid things. Maybe they found John's L&P stash, I dunno. For the record, L&P isn't bad stuff, it's awesome. Dannflow (acting John) just happens to have loads and loads and loads and loads and loads and loads and loads of it... Did I mention he has a lot? Anyway, so they've just been chased, and I'm writing... Though I'm about to go to piano practice. (Only practiced... three times this week, and only once did I do scales. Bad me!) I might add more to this post later in the day. We'll see. *returns* I also wrote a couple more back stories today, so that's good!

16th of May, 2011 - Graphics
Didn't work on the script today, but I tried my hand at title-graphic making. In yesterday's post, I mentioned that we FINALLY came up with titles. (Still haven't gotten confirmation from Foley Man and Dannflow, as my internet has been down all day.) So today I had a little play around with fonts, and settled on Papyrus, which I then modified a little, moving the 'owstring' in "Bowstring" up a few pixals, since the bottom of the B is really wide. Actually, the B looked a bit like a bow, and the hook of the g, looked like a target. It's perfect really, so I drew an arrow underlining the 'Strin'. Looks awesome, and you'll be able to see it bellow. Under the arrow, where I still had a bit of the gap since the arrow fired form the middle of the B-bow, I put the individual movie titles. "The Archer's Fable", "Veil of Trees" and "A Shadow Trail". Around the titles, I put a glow, then whipped up a camo texture for it. And THEN for each title, I made them different color schemes. "The Archer's Fable" is mottled brown for the glow with dulled gold text. "Veil of Trees" has a mottled green glow with bronzy/redish brown text. "A Shadow Trail" has mottled blue glow with silver/grey text. They all look rather awesome. Check them out below!

15th of May, 2011 - Titles at last!
Some friends and I started a project a while back, which has been unnamed until recently- recently being a couple hours ago. The project is called "Bowstring", and it's a movie. (It'll probably end up as movie series, or saga if you like.) So, my friends and I, (I'll call them Foley Man and Dannflow for now, as I have yet to ask them if I can call them otherwise on here.) have been working on Bowstring for a couple months now. When I say that of course, since we're in the early script writing stage, I guess mostly I've been working on it. They've been giving me feedback, and we've discussed ideas about a few things in the movie. Here's something that'll seem a bit strange though, probably: I'm writing the movies out of order. Two, one, three... and then we'll see what happens from there. At least Star Wars followed SOME order!
I guess I would probably explain what Bowstring is... The story's basis is in Fantasy/Medieval-styled Fiction. It's party inspired by a few things. Australian author John Flanagan's "Ranger's Apprentice" book series, and BBC's "Robin Hood" Television series. (I highly recommend both. Generally at least 11) The second movie in Bowstring, I've written most of the first draft script for. It's mostly about the characters Caleb and John. Both are Rangers, a group of people who's skill with a bow is renown, and who's skill in undetected movement is remarkable. They help keep law in the land, but unfortunately, a few years prior to the majority of the story, an assassin has killed the King. Galen, the assassin-now-king, has driven the Rangers into hiding while he exploits the country's resources to hunt the Rangers and get his revenge. Caleb, John, and a few other characters form a small rebellion against Galen, and plan to restore the throne back to the royal family- which by now is mostly dead. (They're slightly alive! All dead, only one thing you can do. Go through their clothes and look for loose change.) Ooo, parenthesizes! (Killing characters; that seems it happen a lot in stories/movies, doesn't it? I have friends who when their story gets boring, they just kill a character. Ahhh, plot development. Now THAT'S progress.)
So I'm keeping this blog because- well, if this project gets up and running, it might be useful for future reference, and maybe other people will be encouraged to write scripts and make movies too. I should note, we're a bunch of kids really, and we all have our crazy moments. Just wait 'till you see the bloopers... Heh.
Soooo, you'd probably like to hear the titles we came up with- hopefully Foley Man approves them. -And Dannflow for the last one too, since I didn't get to discuss that one with him.
